THE MAN WHO BROUGHT HONOUR TO PENSIONERS IN INDIA

PENSION IS NOT AN EX-GRATIA PAYMENT.....”
32 YEARS AGO, on 17th December 1982, the Supreme Court of India
declared so in the Classic judgement delivered by five most eminent judges of India
in D S Nakara Vs. Govt of India case.
Till 1986, there was no pension revision in central services.
But, the Govt was compelled to ask 4th CPC to study pension system
and recommend modification, if any required.
Based on 4th CPC report, pension also was revised from 1986.
Only because of the case filed by Mr. D S Nakara and his friend
Rear Admiral (Retd) Satyendra Singh.
5th CPC recommended better benefits for pensioners quoting Supreme Court. 6th CPC also recommended pension revision, but, with lesser benefits to the pensioners than the serving staff.Now the 7th CPC is on the job.
Pensioners of India observe 17th December every year as PENSIONERS DAY.
We pay our respectful tributes to late Mr Nakarawho was instrumental
for gettingthe landmark-classic judgement on pension system from Supreme Court of India.

Pensioners' Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm at Recreation Club premises O/o PGM,BSNL ,Coimbatore on 13-12-2014.Around 180 members participated including 50 Lady members
The meeting was presided over by Sri.C.Palanisamy,Vice President of our Coimbatore SSA Branch. Sri.R.Thiruvenkataswamy, District Secretary detailed about the efficient functioning of our branch.

our Chief Guest Sri.P.S.Raman Kutty.our CHQ President ,which was observed with a pindrop silence and with applause frequently from the audience.He gave an elaborated account about the current status of present burning issue,i.e.78.2% merger with a definit hope that it is not far away..The examples he gave about the movement of this file from one table to another ,was received with great applause.He also gave a detailed report about the submission of Memorandum to the 7th Pay Commission
A Question -Answer session was also conducted. Sri.Vamanan ,Assistant Secretary proposed a vote of thanks.
Tiruchirapalli
Pensioners' Day and 1st.District conference of Tiruchirapalli SSA held on 06 12 2014 .
Comrades D.Gopalakrishnan and K.muthiyalu,Circle President participated.More than 250 members were attended.
MADURAI
The Madurai (Tamilnadu) branch is our biggest SSA Unit in India.It has 1450 members now.
On 7th December 2014, Madurai Unit conducted a grand meeting in the PGMT office premises. 400 members participated in the meeting. Com. M Raveendran, District President presided over. The hall was named after V R Krishna Iyer, paying tribute to the eminent Jurist of India who expired three days back.
Com. P S Ramankutty, All India President addressing the gathering spoke on the significance of the PENSIONERS DAY, being observed by pensioners community in India on 17th December every year. He told that all of us are getting revised pension only because of the Classic Judgement delivered by Supreme Court on 17th December 32 years ago in 1982. Com. Ramankutty spoke in detail about the 78.2% IDA Case, Pension Anomnaly case, 7th Central Pay Commission and our memorandum to it, various other organisational matters etc.
He congratulated the District Unit headedd by Com. G R Dharmarajan for maintaining its Number ONE position in the country and for their systematic functioning. He called upon more members to enlist themselves as Life members and Life time Susbcribers of our Patrika. There was a commendable response to his call. Many paid subscription and became Life members immediately after the meeting also.
More than 35 senior comrades who have completed the age of 75 years were felicitated on the occasion.Similarly, the District Unit distributd Photo ID Cards to all the Life members.
KEEN AUDIENCE
VIRUDUNAGAR
Virudunagar unit of our Association is smaller, when compared to Madurai.
But, the appreciable factor is that out of the 310 total members, 260 are Life Members.
175 of them attended the biannual Conference condcuted on 8th December 2014. Com. Shanmugham, the district president presided over the conference.
Com. P S Ramankutty, all India President addressing the gathering spoke in detail about various issues concerning BSNL pensioners and our activities.
Com. S Arunachalam (veteran District Secretary of Tirunelveli), Com. E. Kanagaraj (Dist President of Tirunelveli) and leaders of various service unions of BSNL staff also greeted the conference.

AIBSNLPWA Cuddalore District Branch President Com.K.Venkataramanan , District Secretary Chandramohane,Treasurer N.Thirugnanam and Circle Vice President K.Raveendran participated in the function and felicitated the gathering and felt happy about the dawn of third year of Villupuram Region meet at Villupuram periodically on each month on 5th.
Comrade Kaliyapeumal veteran RMS trade union leader graced the function and participated enthuastically from the beginning and till the end of the meet.

TIRUNELVELI
Pensioners' day was held in Subam Marriage Hall on 17-12-2014 under the Presidentship of Comrade E.Kanagaraj.
Secretary Comrade S.Arunachalam spoken about the present problems in Detail.
The pensioners more than 70 years were honoured by garlading shawl.
Comrades ShanmugaRaja Postal,KasiViswanathan AITUC,S.Sammanasu Organising Secretary TN Circle and Sri.B.Muruganantham felicitated the function.
300 Pensioners including 50 Women pensioners participated.

on 17-12-2014. 65 members participated.Distict Secretary comrade
Sadhasivam and Loganathan Treasurer welcomed the gathering and Circle Assistant Secretary Anbazhagan spoken about the present scenerio of our problems.Cuddalore District Secretary Comrade
Chandramohane and Treasurer N.Thirugnanam as special guests paricipated the meeting and have given a speech on history of Pension and present 7th CPC.

The meeting conducted in Subbaraja Trust Hall, Railway Feeder Road, Tenkasi was presided over by the Vice president Sri.S.Sankara Sadasivam and the Chief Guest of the meeting was Sri.Mailerumperumal. former Director of Department of Telecom, New Delhi.
In the meeting the Senior Pensioners, aged more than 80 years , Sri.M.Rajiah, S.Sudalaimuthu Pandian, A.Senthilvinayagam, S.Swaminathan, V.S.Velusamy and Sri.S.Chellappa were honoured by the chief guest.
Sri.S.Chellappa, the Secretary of the association welcomed all and discussed the local problems of the association briefly. Nearly 80 pensioners were present. Sri.Ramanthan(SNEA), Sri.Aryangavu(NFTE) and Sri.Ramasubbu(BSNLEU) addressed. Sri.N.Velayutham, the Treasurer thanked all.

More than 90 members of AIBSNLPWA attended the special meeting held in the conference hall of Telephone Exchange, Nagercoil. The star speaker was Shri Ponneelan, popular Tamil writer who spoke on the Nakara Case, Justice Y V Chandrachud, seniors citizens, the attitude of society towards the senior citizens etc.
District Secretary Com. A Cehllaiah welcomed and Treasurer Com. Anthonyswamy proposed vote of thanks.
